Multi-Language Add-In for Visual Studio

Request: Simple Excel Export + Indicate translation status

Phil,

I know you may have your hands full of your other projects and implementing other useful features in MultiLang, but I think this idea may be useful to a broader audience of ML users.

Problem

Basically, we often use simple excel export, as we don't need the context information provided by the full-featured Excel export, and explaining the idea of context information/resource string numbers and how they work seems to often be too much to the translators we work with + they feel they can charge us more if there's more strings visually 😉

So we use simple to save on effort and translation costs. However, what we love about the full-featured export is translation status indicators, and our translators seem to like those too ('pay more attention if something is in red' seems to work just fine 😎). But as we all know, translation status indicators are only available with the standard Excel export.

Solution

We'd love to have the best of both worlds: simple export/import with translation status indicators. I believe many of your users may be in the position we're in, and find such an ability desirable both for cost-cutting, as well as ease-of-use purposes.

Summary

What do you think about it Phil? Is there perhaps a technical limitation as to why this might not be possible?

What do you guys/users/devs think about it? Do you use simple Excel export as much as we do? Do you see yourselves using it more if it had translation indicators?

Hi,

I have added this feature to version 4.7x.0019

(and fixed a stupid bug generating new .resx files which I introduced in version 4.7x.0018).

You already added the feature? This has to be the best timing ever to code a feature request! Thanks so much, already downloaded the new version - our translators will sure be happy when we release a new version of our app.
